Help Seekers Connect with Mentors for Chats!

Seekers Have Asked Us for Help – You Can Make it Happen

Today, we want to introduce two tips — one for mentors and one for seekers, designed to make connecting for one-on-one chats easier.

These tips respond to feedback from seekers— They sometimes are intimidated, confused, and uncertain about how to initiate chats with one of the 130 Immanuel mentors who have registered in the Pathways Mentor Directory.

Suggest mentors for them to chat with, and introduce them to those you suggest. Approach a seeker and propose a chat. Be passionate about part of your path, and inspire a seeker to think about trying it.

Here are a few examples from our Mentor Stories, one of the 9 Resource Maps, that highlight how taking initiative and playing an active role as a mentor has established great mentoring relationships for these Immanuelites:

Pastor Katie was introduced by an adviser to Charlie, who took an interest in Katie’s story.

Beth Simms was motivated by a high school teacher whose passion inspired Beth to go to medical school.

Rich Bissell realized Scott, one of his professors, was interested in helping him when he gave Rich his home phone number and encouraged him to call any time.

When Pastor Aaron was trying to reconcile the “reality” of what the church is with his vision of an ideal church, a recently retired pastor approached Aaron and asked to mentor him.
