Chat With an Immanuel Mentor

What Is This?

Do you sometimes wish you could talk about your future with someone other than a parent, friend, guidance counselor, teacher or co-worker? Someone who doesn’t try to tell you what to do, or have an agenda, but is more of a ‘guide’? Over 125 Immanuelites have registered as mentors, not to give you advice, but to listen to you in a nonjudgmental way, ask a few questions, and share their stories. Chats between seekers and mentors are one-time events - not a long term commitment.

Why Are One-On-One Chats a Great Opportunity?

Mentors have no agenda other than yours

They’re here to ask a few good questions and share their stories, without the agenda that colleagues, guidance counselors, friends and family can have. They want to listen to you and support you, not tell you what to do.

Happy at work and in life? You still need mentors

We all benefit from meaningful conversation. Successful people always surround themselves with mentors! Where do you see yourself at work in 5 years? Do you want to advance at work, and try new things? Can you help fulfill your sense of purpose through volunteering?

Immanuel has a wealth of experience & wisdom

Think about all the different journeys and perspectives represented in the congregation. Imagine all the great listeners and story-tellers. The best part? They’re eager to share it with YOU.

They are a supportive environment for your values

Friends, family, teachers and counselors are helpful. But since personal exploration is the first step in making great life choices, why not do this in a community that shares some of your values?

Immanuel is a great place to improve at networking

Personal connections are far better than trying to learn about opportunities online. Immanuel mentors help you learn how to network; some will suggest others for you to talk with next and introduce you.

You will be inspired to join a Guide Team

One-time conversations over video or coffee are great, but we think you’ll also want to go deeper, having regular conversations in a guide team with three generations of Immanuelites.

The three of you choose books, articles, videos, and exercises to discuss and spark inspiration. Each team has a high school or college student, a young adult and an older adult.
